Summary of Clinical Experience
Dr Lam completed his medical degree with honours in 1996, and after completing his internship and two years of surgical residency at the St George Hospital he successfully entered into the Advanced General Surgical Training program in New South Wales. Over the next 2 years he acquired extensive experience in vascular surgery, colorectal, general surgery and laparoscopic surgery.
In 2002 Dr Lam entered the Advanced Accredited Urology Training program and was relocated to Adelaide where he worked at all three of the major teaching hospitals in Adelaide (Queen Elizabeth, Repatriation General/ Flinders Medical Centre, Royal Adelaide Hospital) gaining a broad urological experience in endoscopic, minimally invasive, laparoscopic as well as open and reconstructive urology.

Dr Lam successfully passed the FRACS Part II Urology fellowship examination in 2005 and commenced his fellowship in urology at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, consolidating his experience in general urology, both in endoscopic and open surgery and fluoroscopic urodynamics, minimally invasive laser stone surgery, advance laparoscopic techniques/surgery (laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, nephrectomy, pyeloplasty), urinary continence/prosthetic surgery (SPARCs, artificial urinary sphincter, penile prosthesis) and open uro-oncological and reconstructive urological surgery.
He attended an International Preceptorship in Laparoscopic Urology with Professor Inderbir Gill at the Cleveland clinic in Cleveland Ohio in 2007.
In February 2008, Dr Lam was appointed consultant urologist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital to commence operating on the daVinci Robot performing the Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and is one of three pioneering urological surgeons who perform this type of surgery in Adelaide. Since then Dr Lam has lent his expertise to other up and coming colleagues in the field of robotic urological surgery through mentorship.
Committed to innovation and excellence in patient care, Dr. Lam introduced the first GreenLight laser equipment to South Australia in 2012 for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), delivering excellent clinical outcomes.
In 2024, he further advanced his expertise by completing a Master of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Adelaide.
Dr. Lam is dedicated to serving both metropolitan and regional communities. He holds public appointments at Noarlunga Hospital and Kangaroo Island Hospital, where he provides comprehensive urological consultation and surgical services to the Southern Adelaide region.
